Heat Reflective “Low E” Glass
Glass has been used in windows since around 100 AD and can be seen on Egyptian wall art from around that time in Alexandria. We have obviously improved on the design and strength since then. One of the greatest improvements happened around 1980 when it was discovered that extremely thin layers of minerals like silver could be deposited in an even layer on the glass thereby reducing the incoming UV light. This can keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer without reducing the light that we can see. You get a more energy efficient home with out losing the ability to see clear detail through you windows. “Low E” glass has come along way since 1980 and we now use multiple minerals for the coating which increases the UV reflection to almost 100%.
